Who we are

GENIE is a dynamic-pricing service for parking operators. It is run by GENIE Parking S.à r.l.-S, a simplified limited liability company (société à responsabilité limitée simplifiée) under Luxembourg law, with its registered office at 2, rue de l'Innovation, L-7795 Bissen, Luxembourg, registered with the Luxembourg Trade and Companies Register (RCS) under number B312396, VAT number LU37869286. In this policy, "GENIE", "we" and "us" mean this company.

This policy covers:

• the GENIE app at app.genieparking.com, used by parking operators;
• GENIE's internal admin at admin.genieparking.com, used only by GENIE staff;
• this website, genieparking.com.

The short version

• We never sell personal data and never use it for advertising.
• Nobody can sign up to the GENIE app on their own. Accounts are created by invitation only.
• Parking data about an operator's customers belongs to that operator. We process it only on their behalf, to produce their forecasts, prices and reports.
• If you use Sign in with Google, we receive only your name, email address and profile picture, and use them only to sign you in.

People who use the GENIE app

This section is for people at parking operator companies who have a GENIE account. For this data, GENIE is the controller.

What we collect

• Your name and email address.
• Your organization and your role in it (owner or staff).
• Your profile picture, if you use Sign in with Google.
• Sign-in and session records, held for us by our sign-in provider, Clerk.
• The changes you make in the app, for example price settings.

Why we use it, and on what legal basis

• To run your account and provide the service, including support. Legal basis: performance of the contract between GENIE and your organization.
• To keep the service secure, for example by checking sign-ins and keeping a record of changes. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting the service and our customers.

Sign in with Google

You can sign in to the GENIE app with your Google account. This is optional; it is only used if you choose it.

What GENIE receives from Google

• Your name.
• Your email address.
• Your profile picture.

GENIE does not receive your Google password and does not access any other data in your Google account.

How GENIE uses it

• Only to sign you in to GENIE and to show who is signed in.
• It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to develop, improve or train AI or machine-learning models.
• It is not shared with anyone except the service providers listed below that run sign-in and hosting for GENIE.

GENIE's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

You can remove GENIE's access at any time in your Google account settings. To have this data deleted from GENIE, contact us (see Contact).

Customers of parking operators

This section is for drivers who park at a lot whose operator uses GENIE. Here, the operator is the controller and GENIE is a processor acting on the operator's instructions. Our agreement with the operator governs this processing.

What we receive

• Licence plate.
• Entry and exit times.
• Tariff and amount paid.
• Whether you are a subscriber.

This data comes from the operator's parking management system, by API or file import. We do not collect it from you directly.

How it is used

• Only to produce that operator's occupancy forecasts, price recommendations and reports.
• It is never sold and never used for advertising.
• We may use aggregated, anonymized data across operators to improve GENIE's forecasting models. Anonymized data no longer identifies any person or vehicle.

To exercise your rights over this data, contact the parking operator. GENIE helps the operator answer your request.

Visitors to this website

For genieparking.com, GENIE is the controller.

• Analytics. Every page loads Google Tag Manager, which runs Google Analytics. It records the pages you visit, clicks on links and buttons (for example "Book a call", email links and navigation), the first time you use an interactive tool such as the revenue calculator, and technical details such as browser, device and approximate location derived from your IP address. Values you type into the revenue calculator are not sent. Google Analytics only runs its measurement and sets its cookies after you accept them in the cookie banner. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through the cookie banner.
• Hosting. The website is hosted by Netlify, whose servers process your IP address and request details to deliver the pages. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
• Fonts. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers, which see your IP address.
• Email. If you email us, we use your message and contact details to reply. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you, or steps before a contract at your request.
• Booking a call. "Book a call" links open Calendly. If you book, we receive the name, email address and details you enter, and use them to hold the call. Legal basis: steps before a contract at your request.

The website has no contact form and no user accounts.

Cookies and browser storage

On this website

• Cookie consent (CookieScriptConsent): remembers your choice in the cookie banner. Strictly necessary.
• Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_PSNNG55E5N): set only if you accept them. They tell visits apart and measure use of the site, and last 2 years.

In the GENIE app

• Clerk session cookies: keep you signed in. Strictly necessary.
• Local storage: remembers the parking lot and language you chose.
• No analytics or advertising cookies.

Service providers

We use these providers to run GENIE. Each one processes personal data only to provide its service to us.

• Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany): hosts the app, API and databases. Servers in Finland.
• Clerk, Inc. (USA): accounts, sign-in, session cookies and invitation emails.
• Google: Sign in with Google (app); Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Fonts (website).
• OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap: map tiles in the app. The address search in the app's settings sends the address you type to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service. Like any map service, these see your browser's IP address.
• Netlify, Inc. (USA): hosts this website.
• CookieScript: shows the cookie banner on this website and records your choice.
• Calendly LLC (USA): booking of calls.

Transfers outside the EU

Some providers are based in the United States, so data can leave the European Economic Area. Clerk, Google, Netlify and Calendly are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, with Standard Contractual Clauses as a fallback.

How long we keep data

• App account data: while the account is active. After a user is removed, their account data is kept for 12 months, then deleted.
• Parking data received from operators: for as long as the agreement with the operator runs. When it ends, the data is returned to the operator or deleted, at the latest 3 years after the agreement ends.
• Website analytics: 14 months, after which Google Analytics deletes it.
• Emails and call bookings: as long as needed to handle your request and follow up.

Security

• All connections use HTTPS.
• Access to the app is limited to invited accounts and GENIE staff.
• Databases are password-protected.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• have it corrected;
• have it deleted;
• restrict how we use it;
• receive it in a portable format;
• object to processing based on our legitimate interests;
• withdraw your consent at any time, where consent is the legal basis.

To use these rights, contact us (see Contact). If you are a customer of a parking operator, contact the operator; we will help them respond.

You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority. In Luxembourg this is the Commission nationale pour la protection des données (CNPD). You can also contact the authority in the EU country where you live or work.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we will tell app users by email or in the app.
